Pregnancy and Babies

Now, if you're a man and reading this, turn away from this blog entry, there is no need for you to read this and no need for you to learn anything about pregnancy's.

But my friend, Ashleigh is pregnant with twins. She is due in January/February and I am devastated that she is pregnant again so quickly. I would love to have more then just 4 children. But unfortunately I have been unable to get pregnant quickly. Yesterday I was talking with Mark and we were saying how we would be willing to take in the girl twin, Kimberleigh and pay Ashleigh's family 5,000 (our life savings) for the baby. They have more then one girl already, Abigail needs a sister. We would even keep the girl's name the way that Ashleigh wants it to be.

I know she won't take my offer so I won't even talk to her about it but I do so long for another girl, for a sister to my daughter.

Worshiping this Sunday...

I love Sunday's.  All we do is worship and it makes my week go much better (I'm ashamed to say that there were Sunday's were I did not worship and the weeks afterwards did not go well.)

Today all three boys were very well behaved and didn't need to be reminded to sit still during church.  Even Abigail was better behaved this Sabbath service.

Now that the children have gone to bed, time for my husband and I to have one more worship service before we retire.

I just know we'll have a wonderful week.

Jacob's birthday!

Jacob turned 7 last month and we had such a good time on Jacob's birthday this year. It fell on a Sunday so we didn't celebrate it the day of.  But the day before, we had cake, we watched a movie (one of the few times I let the children watch TV, the horrid thing.) and Jacob opened presents. Earlier that day, we went and delivered Jacob’s present to the old folks home. We delivered cards and drawings to brighten up the room of the men and women who don't get visitors. I say it's Jacob's present, but we set it up for him. It is important not to think about yourself and only glorify God and think about serving him and the world. Even on your birthday.

Need to catch up!

Our family has been so busy glorifying and learning God's Will that I haven't had a chance to post online.

But a quick catch up with our children:

Joshua is ahead in what was scheduled for his schoolwork, he says that he wants to graduate as soon as possible so he can go to college to earn a degree and have a good job so he can provide for his family.

Jacob had his 7th birthday and is in the 1st grade now, he is working very hard as he looks up to his older brother Joshua and wants to study the same things Joshua is.

Johnny is learning the alphabet and is loves to help with his little sister, but I don't let him, he is a man and a man must not know how to take care of a baby, I will always be around to do that. There is no need for him to learn anything about how to take care of a baby.

Abigail turns one next month and is learning to walk. It's hard to get her to stay still, I am still training her but each day has varying degrees of success in getting her to stay still and not get into everything.

Mark and I are doing well, we are raising our children to be Godly men (and woman.) Life is good.

Catch up!

I've been super busy, 4 children and a husband have kept me busy.

But, we have everything ready for Homeschooling again starting in August.  (I'll write another post or two about that  soon.

I am busy training my daughter not to cry too much and not to get into things.

Life is busy but good.

The wedding has been postponed

This has been very difficult for me to write about, Nataleigh's father and Mark found out that the age of consent is 16, so we will have to wait another 3 years for the wedding.  I'm so dissapointed, the wedding is in 8 years.  Eight.  That means that the soonest I will be a grandmother is in about 9 years.  That is almost an entire decade.

I'm trying to look on the bright side but I am very disapointed.

Homeschooling: Part One

We are lucky enough to be able to homeschool (I’m still praying for your husband to see the light Ashleigh.)  It’s the end of the school year for us and I’ve just finished buying the curriculum for next year so we have it when we start in August.

We have most subjects together, I believe learning as a family helps everyone learn.  We do however have Penmanship, Math and reading/English apart, other than that we generally learn together.

Penmanship: we don’t use an actual curriculum or boughten package, each day I have them copy part of a scripture or I tell them to write their testimony of the Lord Jesus in their best handwriting.  They have gotten much better when doing this after learning how to write properly when doing this.

We use Rod and Staff for English, just with different grade levels.  Rod and Staff uses Mennonite grade levels which are a little different than non Mennonite grade levels.  Non Mennonite grade levels are a little ahead until about 3-4th grade, then both even out before the Mennonite grade levels jump ahead at about the 5th grade, so even though Joshua and Jacob are in 1st and 5th grade right now, they do use different books because of this.

Joshua is about 3/4ths of the way through the 5th grade book, but I’m not pressuring him to hurry through it because of the grade differences between us and the Mennonite book.  If he starts the 6th grade still using the 5th grade book I’m fine with that and so is Mark.

Jacob uses the 2nd grade book, he’s currently just starting it, and will only be a few lessons in when we break for summer.  I just didn't want to have him go 3 months without any English/reading work.

In Math they are in different curriculum, Joshua uses Teaching textbooks, which isn’t a christian curriculum but it works best for him.  He’s a very independent learner and this way I can concentrate on Jacob.

Jacob uses Minquon Math and has just finished the Red Book.  We also use living math with Jacob, he helps me add prices at the grocery store.

The rest of the subjects we have, we do together, they are: History, Science, Geography, Bible, Art, Music, Poetry and Physical Education.

I'll post about our other curriculum sometime next week, stay tuned!
